Verifactu quick guide

What Verifactu is, who it applies to and from when

Updated October 2026

What it is

Verifactu is the system required by Spain’s invoicing-systems regulation (RD 1007/2023): every invoice is recorded in full, chained and tamper-proof, with a QR code the customer can check. In Veri*Factu mode, each record is sent to the AEAT automatically.

Who it applies to

Businesses and self-employed people who invoice with software, including hospitality, nightclubs and nightlife. Excluded are those already keeping their books in the SII and those taxed in the Basque Country or Navarre, which have their own systems.

Timeline

  1. 29 Jul 2025 · Invoicing software vendors must already comply with the regulation.

  2. 1 Jan 2027 · Mandatory for Corporate Income Tax payers.

  3. 1 Jul 2027 · Mandatory for everyone else: self-employed people under IRPF and other obligated parties.

Is there certified software?

No. The AEAT does not approve or certify invoicing software: each vendor signs a responsibility declaration guaranteeing that its system meets the regulation. Ask your vendor for it.

What happens if your POS isn’t adapted

Verifactu arrives in 2027, and patches are expensive.

The deadline has been pushed back twice, but the regulation is in force and software vendors must already comply. These are the risks we see in venues that haven’t migrated yet.

POS not adapted to Verifactu

Many long-standing hospitality POS systems don’t meet Verifactu’s integrity, traceability and signature requirements. Always ask your vendor for its responsibility declaration.

External modules bolted onto your current POS

Paying for a Verifactu module on top of your POS produces two systems that go out of sync, duplicate invoices and split support across two providers.

Paper receipts and manual logging

You keep printing physical receipts without QR, digital signature or auto-submission to the tax authority. Every inspection is a real risk for the venue.

No digital shift logging

EU rules also require digital staff shift logging. Excel-based or physical clock-in systems are not valid in a labour inspection.

Scennio brings Verifactu, electronic invoicing, shift logging and POS into one app — no third-party modules, no extra fees.

What Scennio solves on compliance

One app, all the legal requirements covered.

Built for nightclubs, beach clubs, restaurants and bars that want Verifactu and EU compliance without a Frankenstein of external modules.

Verifactu built in

Verifiable invoices with digital signature, chaining, verification QR and automatic real-time submission to the AEAT, backed by our responsibility declaration. No extra fees or third-party integrations.

B2B e-invoicing

Ready for business-to-business e-invoicing: structured format, secure archiving and automatic delivery to the recipient.

Digital receipts with QR

Auto-issued digital receipts with AEAT verification QR. The customer gets it via email or scans it at the table. You cut paper, leave traceability and speed up table close.

Staff shift logging

Digital clock-in built into the same app. Compliant with mandatory time-tracking. Schedules, breaks and one-click export ready for any labour inspection.

Split bill and traceable changes

Bill splits, tips and refunds are recorded with digital signature and full traceability. Every change leaves an immutable trace, fully compliant with Verifactu.

Typical scenario

Verifactu-ready in 48 hours.

“We had a hospitality POS that had been working for years. When the noise around Verifactu started, we considered bolting on an external module. We ended up moving to Scennio directly: in two days we were issuing QR invoices and submitting to the tax authority without touching anything.”

Comparison

Scennio vs. patching your current POS.

We compare Scennio against the most common alternative: adding a Verifactu module on top of a traditional hospitality POS.
